Jonathan Fletcher came rip-roaring back into form with his best innings of the season for Timperley firsts. The South African batsman hit 120 as the firsts made it two wins on the bounce.
His star performance led to his team posting 276 for 8 off their 55 overs which was seen as a sound showing on a pitch that looked like it should offer a lot to the bowlers early on.
It earned Timperley maximum batting points for the first time this season against high riding opponents Chester Boughton Hall. Delivery man Jonathan told anyone who would listen that he would be “dead tomorrow” after his mammoth innings off 141 balls in for once sunny conditions.
During the break club stalwart Nathan Brown, who went on to pick up 4 wickets as Chester Boughton Hall could only muster 258, rallied the troops who now have a great chance of avoiding relegation.
Skipper Ed Galley said : "I was so proud of the lads. Funnily enough this wasn't a shock. It wasn’t a surprise at all really but more of a case of where we belong."
"This was an all round great performance from the boys especially after last week's win at Bowdon."
"We were exceptional as a unit fielding holding some excellent catches in pressure moments.Fletcher was frankly amazing showing just how good he is and one of the best batsman in the Premier League. We thoroughly deserved this win and showed great character which gives us the belief to finish the season strongly."
Next Saturday the firsts are at Grappenhall who themselves are battling to avoid relegation. A win at the Warrington club would virtually keep Timperley in the Premier League.
Meanwhile League leaders Timperley 2's lost at Sale with their total of 150 all out chased down with four overs to go.
One of the few high spots for the seconds was another three wickets for "boy wonder" Aryan Dash. The 13 year old Cheshire county spinner has extended his lead in wickets taken for the whole club this season by two having now picked up 46 scalps.
A special shout out has to go to Jason Coad for his match winning 112* as the 4th XI chased down what looked a more than fair 227 in just 40 overs. Batting in front of one of the biggest crowds we've seen on the back pitch in years, it was a tense finish as Coad and Fisher took it to the final over in "fiery" circumstances to secure the win over second place Urmston.
A crowd of nearly 50 stood in the middle of the club carpark attempting to cheer both the 1s and 4s on simultaneously as they both won their games at the death.
This Saturday see's a return to win/lose cricket for the 1st XI and the introduction of the pink ball for the first time this season. Stockport Road will host the 2s against Grappenhall and the 3s against Middlewich as Docs army look to stop the two game slide at a crucial point in the season.
We look forward to seeing you all down there this weekend.
